MENTOR A GIRL

On-Going Opportunity
5-10 hour Monthly Commitment
Greater El Paso Region

January is National Mentoring Month. Make a difference in a girl's life as part of the new Latinitas Amigitas Project in 2009. National Mentoring Month highlights mentoring and the positive impact it can have on young lives. This month-long outreach campaign focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us can work together to assure brighter futures for our young people. In conjunction with this national celebration, Latinitas is launching the Amigitas Project, a volunteer-driven initiative focused on connecting young Latinas with role models and mentors. Latinitas Volunteers will receive training to coordinate Amigitas clubs in our neighboring communities of Las Cruces, Canutillo, Tornillo and more. Volunteers must undergo a background check. Mentors will meet with a small group of girls on a monthly basis to lead girl empowerment workshops focused on encouraging young Latinas to express themselves and build confidence. Volunteers must commit to leading one 4 hour club gathering a month for an entire year. For more information, email
