Latinitas Teen Media Academy Leaders

Latinitas will host a week-long media academy for high school girls in grades 9-12th with intensive instruction from media producers. As part of the camp, teens will get multimedia tips from the pros in magazine, newspaper, photo and broadcast journalism. The camp will offer hands-on workshops and field trips. Female volunteers are needed this week to help set up, serve as a guest speakers, mentor and guide teens through the scheduled activities, and clean up. Volunteers are also needed to help promote the camp among teen girls and parents. A few teen spots are still available. Multimedia Day - Girl Scouts Media Mavens

July 20, 11:00am-3:00pm at the Richard Burges Public Library (9600 Dyer). Latinitas is partnering with the Girl Scouts of El Paso to host a full day of media training. Volunteers are needed to help with set up and break down along with mentoring girls in photography, video and media literacy activities. Latinitas Multimedia Arts Summer Camp for Tween Leaders

July 11-15, 9:00-5:00pm, at the Latinitas Headquarters, Gecko Conference Room (1359 Lomaland, Suite 502). Latinitas will host a hands-on, media enriching camp for girls in grades 4th-8th. Female volunteers are needed this week to help set up, serve as a guest speakers, mentor the girls, guide campers through the scheduled activities, and clean up. Help is also needed with promoting the camp among girls and parents. A few camper spots are still available. Teen Leadership Institute Coordinator

Latinitas is recruiting a couple of Teen Leadership Institute Coordinators. These volunteers would help us lead the six-month leadership institute for high school girls. They would help recruit members, plan our monthly workshops, attend monthly meetings, teach girls leadership principals, coordinate guest speakers, organize activities, mentor participants and guide girls in organizing service projects. Saturday Camps

Saturday, June 11, 10:30am-12:30pm at the Richard Burges Library (9600 Dyer). Saturday, June 11, 1:00-3:00pm at the Judge Marquez Library Branch (610 N. Yarbrough). Saturday, June 25, 10:30am-12:30pm at the Westside Branch Library (125 Belvidere). Female volunteers are needed to assist the camp leader and mentor girls (in grades 4th-8th) with hands-on media arts activities. These camps occur the 2nd & 4nd Saturday of every month, so on-going mentoring is gladly accepted as well. Chicas Advancing in Media

June 11 & 18, July 2 & 16, August 6 & 20, 11:00am-1:00pm at the EPCC Valle Verde Campus, Room A2518. Latinitas invites teen girls (ages 14-18) to participate in writing & multimedia workshops this summer. Through the summer they will be writing journalistic type stories and media projects to be published in our online magazine. Volunteers are needed to help mentor the teen participants during the scheduled workshops, help with the planning process and serve as guest speakers with media related experience.
