Mentors Wanted

Latinitas is partnering with local groups to offer creative expression workshops for young girls.  We are seeking volunteers who are willing to lead multimedia art and culture workshops aimed at helping girls build confidence. Volunteers are asked to dedicate 2 hours per month to lead a monthly workshop for local housing centers, shelters, schools, community centers, church groups, girl scouts troops, and youth groups. Latinitas reserves the location, recruits the girls and provides all the activities, training, equipment and materials.  Volunteers must be prepared to be good role models and mentors for girls. Volunteers attend an orientation and training session and commit to guiding one session a month.  For more information, contact Alicia at latinitasaly@yahoo.com or 239.5051.

Global Youth Service Day: April 23-25

Latinitas has joined the international movement - Global Youth Service Day. This is the largest service event in the world and mobilizes millions of children and youth who improve their communities through service-learning. On GYSD, Latinitas members will help address the world’s most critical issues through youth-led community service projects.

Amigas in Action
Each of our clubs will be participating in the Amigas in Action Project, an initiative that engages youth in researching community needs, organizing volunteer projects to address these issues and creating media projects about their service learning experience as part of a public awareness campaign.

GYSD Celebration
Latinitas is a part of the planning team for the El Paso GYSD Celebration.  This event is aimed at celebrating local youth volunteers who have made a difference in their community and encouraging more teens to get involved in volunteerism.  Volunteers are needed to represent Latinitas at our information table and lead teen-friendly activities at our booth.  To volunteer, contact us at 239.5051 or latinitasaly@yahoo.com.

School Supply Drive
As part of the  GSYD, volunteer groups across the city are invited to join Latinitas in a school supply drive throughout April to benefit area disadvantaged children. Donations can be dropped off at 1359 Lomaland Suite 502.
